Default Small Engines On The Mainline.

Just to show that mainline steam doesn't have to be all about big engines, here is a link to a video with two Pannier Tanks on a charter on Nov.14 this year.
9466 & 9600 are the smallest mainline registered engines in the UK.And when the tour was announced it sold out in days and we had to add two extra coaches, and even then demand for tickets was greater than we could supply!!!

Who needs Tornado, indeed!

With all of the emphasis on larger mainline steam locomotives, it's easy to forget that tank locos like these were the true workhorses on mainlines in the UK and much of Europe; it's fortunate that several have been preserved and many are in excursion service.
