Thread: What "New Build" Steam Loco Would You Like to See?

  1. Default What "New Build" Steam Loco Would You Like to See?

For those who don't know, a "new build" steam locomotive is a newly-built full-size steam locomotive, usually built to represent a now-extinct class. The British Railways A1 "Tornado" Pacific and the 4-4-0 "Levathian" are examples.

The question is...if you wanted to see a new-build locomotive to represent an extinct class, what would you like t see?

Living in Northern Pacific turf, I'd like to see an A5 4-8-4 Northern or a Z8 4-6-6-4 Challenger. They represent the cream of the crop of NP steam...as well as the last new steam engines the NP recieved.

oh I have just come across this thread, well I have just posed something similar in a new thread in the Australian side, mm well It does concern a new build, but requires no coal or wood even no gas, just water 36,000lts plus the requirement for producing steam for a 500k trip or better. one main requirement is needs to run at 100 to 130kph average. have a look
